Lightweight Construction: Don’t Believe the Hype! (Live FIre)

Lightweight Construction: Don’t Believe the Hype! We can still aggressively ventilate these roofs.
Firefighter Colin Kelley - Clark County Fire Department (NV)

Friday May 17th (08:00 – 12:00)

This class will provide the students with laddering, sounding, traveling, and cutting techniques for lightweight residential and commercial roofs. We will demonstrate what we believe to be the best tools for the job and what to look for and FEEL for once you are on these roofs. There’s a fine line between an unsafe operation and an extremely effective ventilation operation! We will leave the students with the tools, education and an all-around better understanding of these roofs and how they perform under fire conditions. To have a successful vent operation on these roofs, firefighters must be able to fall back on their training, understand the construction, and follow the rules of engagement for these roofs. Students will leave this class with a timely, effective, aggressive, ventilation operation for lightweight residential and commercial roofs. Not for the faint of heart. Students need to bring their thinking caps and be ready to work.
