Attic Fire Tactics and Strategies
Lieutenant Bryan Reid - Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services (GA)
This class examines the specific and unique characteristics presented by fires originating in or extending into the attic space of a residential structure. For instance, attic fires present a unique set of circumstances which provide an optimal environment for back drafts. They also have a potential for a large volume of fire to develop. Also addressed are size-up and suggestions for initial tactical assignments as well as some unique tactics which come from "thinking outside the box". The class provides good information for all personnel, from the firefighter just starting his/her career up to the command officer.
